It will take the whole morning to reach the place and afternoon will be occupied by A drive to the holy Cave of Kompong Trach. The road is quite beautiful, going along the sea shore. Following day, drive to the Bokor Hill station, where are the remains of the old royal casino. Beautiful panorama on the bay, forest, water falls make this place a pleasant spot to visit. Located in Takeo province, this lake and its surrounding temples will take a full day to visit. Ta phrom, a laterite temple dated 11th century and built on the site of an old khmer temple, dating probably of the 6th century. Phnom Chisor, small hill with a spectacular view of the temples and the plains around. On top the hill, the main temple, built of laterite and bricks, has been quite destroyed by the khmer rouges occupation, it remains however a very respected place for the Cambodian people. Leaving Siem Reap by boat, in the morning, ot will take 2 days to visit this provincial city and its surroundings. Visits will include temples like Ek Phnom, Phnom Banam, the Komping Paoy dam, going through bamboo forests giving the necessary material for the local handicraft of furniture making. Built along the river, “rice bowl” of the country, important commercial center , Battambang has remain a very provincial town. Old “colonial” buildings and typical khmer houses give it particular character to the city. If weather allows there will be a little ride on a “Norie” , little cart, used by the railway workers to follow the rail track and check if it needs repair. An early 11th century temple, located at approximately 70kms from Siem reap ; Overrun by vegetation it is nevertheless of great interest. Probably a prototype for Angkor wat, of which it is contemporary, there is no bas reliefs and very few carvings The place has a rich past history, as in ancient times, all the main roads of the kingdom would go through Beng Mealea. The road is not the best of Cambodia, but the ride takes you through one on the nicest part of the country. A large Buddhist monastery dated 11th century, last of the kher rouge stronghold, Bantey Chhmar was once, a capital city of the Kingdom.
